At Mulberry Tree Organic, we love trees that you can climb and sunshine on our cheeks. We also love how kids love these things too. That’s why we decided to create a business that joined together our two great loves – happy children and a happy environment.
As an environmentally conscious and socially responsible business, Mulberry Tree Organic believes in stocking only the best organic clothing brands for babies and children, without compromising on colour or style. Each garment or accessory has been lovingly created with kids in mind, so they are practical, colour-filled, stylish and free from harmful chemicals or nasty additives. Not only is organic cotton better for the skin, it is also better for our earth and our farmers.
Only the best will do at Mulberry Tree Organic and that’s why each brand has been handpicked by Nicky from around the world. She has made sure that each brand creates fun, wearable and socially conscious clothing that aligns with the Mulberry Tree Organic ethos. Each brand supports sustainable environmental practices and produces beautiful garments that are an investment in our children and our environment. After all, children are the future. And with Mulberry Tree Organic, the future is already looking greener.
Behind the Brands
Mulberry Tree Organic, Nicky Flood
Why did you choose an organic business?
I wanted my business to benefit everyone and the environment. I am from the UK originally and had a fantastic childhood travelling to see beautiful places around the world. Unfortunately some of those places are not so beautiful anymore. I hope to contribute to preserving the beautiful places that still exist and support Fairtrade in countries less fortunate than we are here in Australia.
What do you love about your products?
The products at Mulberry Tree Organic are all such beautiful quality. They are practical and stylish, with a splash of colour, and I know kids love wearing them! Mulberry Tree Organic also values the people behind the products because they are as passionate about organic products as we are. From passion comes beauty.
Who inspires you?
Anita Roddick (founder of The Body Shop) has been a great inspiration to me, she was certainly the first person who made me think about how the products that I used everyday where produced and their impact on the environment, her legacy lives on!
Words of wisdom?
Some think they are crazy, others think they are genius. The one’s who think that they can change the world, do!
Piccalilly, United Kingdom, Hannah Evans
Why did you choose an organic business?
Choosing to buy organic cotton products came from my experiences dealing with suppliers in India. I wanted to be certain that the entire supply chain I was working with (not just the factory) was beneficial to both the people making the product and the end-product. By converting to organic methods the end-product is much kinder to sensitive baby skin.
What do you love about your products?
I love that we have created an eco-fabulous range that is bright, modern and great-looking, as well as practical. We have created a range that is sustainable and sourced from a transparent supply chain where everyone counts, from cotton farmer to cotton processor, cotton knitter, printer, garment producer and wearer.
What do you look forward to each day?
Every day at Piccalilly is different. We have developed a business whereby we have contact with our suppliers on a day-to-day basis. I visit our producers annually – both in the factory and the organic cotton fields – to check progress and new developments.
Who inspires you?
Harriet Lamb, the Head of the Fairtrade Foundation in London is known as the ‘Queen of Fairtrade’ and is a pioneer in her field. She is an amazing lady who has championed the cause of producers who are at the very bottom of the supply chain.

Why did you choose an organic business?
The only sensible way of producing cotton is through organic processes. By creating an organic business, we are acting responsibly for the benefit of the planet but also for the producers and the consumers. Children are directly affected by chemicals and pesticides contained in traditional cotton.
What do you love about your products?
We really love the exclusive prints and the lovely organic fabrics of our collections. With each new collection we try our best to create natural clothes that are fun and pretty. Clothes can be natural and organic AND fun and pretty.
What do you look forward to each day?
Being committed to organic processes and products and fairtrade practices, we look forward to convincing new boutiques that organic is best for everyone, including clients.
Who inspires you?
We work with wonderful people! The people at the workshop in India are deeply committed to Fairtrade and producing organic clothes. The great relationship we have with the people at the workshop is very important to us. It is a lot more than a simple business relationship. The human dimension is what drives us.
Jane McAllister: Dimples, New Zealand
Why did you start a business when you have 14 children to look after already?
Hers is the classic story of necessity being the mother of invention. I made clothes for my own children when money was scarce and I found I couldn't buy simple, practical, quality gear.
The idea for the company began in 1990, when a friend suggested that maybe the young McAllisters had more than enough clothes and that it was time I started a business, that Dimples was born and my vision for a new baby clothing brand began to take shape.
What do you love about your organic products?
All garments are manufactured in New Zealand using the finest 100% certified organic cotton. We love that organic can be stylish, and luxurious.
What makes you smile?
I love babies, so seeing a newborn all wrapped up with a little Dimples beanie makes me smile.
What are your words of wisdom?
Quality and style beats quantity everytime.

Lindy Klim, milk skin care - Australia
Why did you choose an organic business?
When I was pregnant with my second child Rocco my husband Michel was developing his skin care range Milk. I couldn't find anything I felt confident to use on my children that was all organic and natural. This is what prompted me to start my own range.
What do you love about your products?
My favourite thing about our products would have to be there originality. I also love that they actually work. There is nothing worse than a brand that promises the world and actually does nothing.
What makes you smile?
The short answer....my children
Words of wisdom?
Not everything always works out to plan....don't beat yourself up about it.
